POSITION: Staff Development Coordinator 
DEPARTMENT: Administration
RESPONSIBLE TO: CEO 
Scope of Position: Reporting to the CEO, the Staff Development Coordinator is accountable to promote, oversee, and facilitate educational programs and the accreditation processes, ensuring they align with the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, and comply with licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. This dynamic role involves managing staff educational requirements, accreditation leadership, organizing staff training, and networking with external agencies providing educational opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the provision of Education / Accreditation Services:
 
- 
- Carry out annual education needs assessments with staff and Senior Leaders, to assist in yearly planning
 - Coordinate mandatory staff education programs
 - Annual Review of Education Policy and Procedures
 - Leads Accreditation Teams in achieving Accreditation Standards
 
 
- Ensure the orientation and ongoing education of all staff of the Home:
 
- 
- Leads staff orientation sessions
 - Communicate information on workshops, professional meetings and in-services to all staff, regarding in person, self-directed and virtual education sessions.
 - Organize educational events such as workshops, seminars, in-house education etc.
 - Leads in securing Igility funding ad accountability
 - Compliance: Ensure that educational programs comply with licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
 - Oversee and monitor the Learning Management System, SURGE, assuring it is updated, reports are uploaded and assignments reflect best practice.
 - Other duties as may be required by the CEO / HR
 
 
Desired Skills:
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making abilities (will require refences to confirm abilities).
 - Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
 - Proficiency in educational technologies and Office software (Excel, Microsoft Word).
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 - Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices.
 
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s in Adult Education or a related field.
 - Experience: in Long-Term Care is an asset
 - Experience: in the Accreditation Canada process is an asset
