The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new RK MacDonald Nursing Home took place on June 11th, 2025. The ceremony was well attended, and it was so wonderful to have residents attend to have a hand on the shovel.
The vacant land will soon be transformed into a state-of-the-art long-term care amenity, a place where residents become neighbours and friends, and where future memories, achievements, and connections are made.
There was representation from many different groups at the Groundbreaking Ceremony, including the RK Residents and Staff, RK CEO Senior Leaders, the Congregation Of The Sisters of St. Martha, the Mayor, the Warden, Councillors of the Town and County, the Board of RK MacDonald Nursing Home, the RK MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation, the RK Family Council, Colliers Project Leaders, FBM Architect, PCL Construction, and the Antigonish Senior Care Van Society.
Breaking ground for the new long-term care facility for the residents of Antigonish and surrounding areas will leave a positive legacy for future generations. To everyone who has worked tirelessly to bring us to this moment, your feedback, vision, and dedication have made this possible. To our entire community, this will be your home, to represent our shared hopes, our shared values, and our shared future.
A special thank you to all involved.
– Camilla Benoit, Chair of the Board
