Fifteen staff members were celebrated with one having served 45 years, five celebrating twenty-five years and three twenty-years.

RK MacDonald staff were delighted to once again attend the Continuing Care Association of Nova Scotia’s (CCANS) Annual Conference and AGM at White Point Beach on June 12-14, 2024.

The RK MacDonald was please to host Byron Donovan, Occupational Health and Safety Consultant, to lead staff in several education sessions.

In an effort to support staff and residents to pay tribute to the deceased resident, the Honour Guard begin when the quilt is laid upon the deceased resident as they leave. The Honour Guard is a meaningful way to pay our respects and to say good bye.

The Resident and Family Satisfaction Survey were carried in out in November of 2023 and are utilized as an annual continuous quality indicator ensuring the voice of the service users, i.e. our Residents and their families is heard by the Home.

For the past 3 years, Terry MacIntyre (CEO) has presented a bi-annual education session at Dalhousie University for their Leadership in Continuing Care program.

On September 25th, 2025, the RK MacDonald Nursing Home Corporation hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The RK’s goal for strategic planning (September 2025) will be the cornerstone for growing a sustainable organization as we transition into the new nursing home.

We have recently updated our RK MacDonald Nursing Home mission statement. This statement covers our mission, vision, and core values.

Our theme this year for the Lights of Love campaign is “Resident Mobility Companions”. This will allow residents to experience outings in the community.
